Why have your own catalogs you might ask? Well I want to use them for my own purposes without being dependant on 3rd parties. Initially I just wanted to do have a visual overview of which objects from a catalog I had already imaged. But them it occured to me that it might be useful to do some custom searching with the purpose of quickly locating targets based on what one can actually see in the night sky. The data is not complete yet and I have idea where this is going at the moment, but who knows what this will lead to... One thing that comes to mind would be a search based on constellation and magnitude.
